Spring is officially here! As we say goodbye to the snow and ice and put the shovels and boots away, it’s time to reflect on the success of this past winter season.
For startup companies, the first year is the toughest. The risks are high. The challenges – well, they can quickly snowball! Today, we give thanks to 7,000 brave customers who decided to give SnowPeeler a chance. They cleared tons of snow from thousands of roofs and stayed safe doing it. Because of their initiative, PolarMade had an incredible first year far surpassing its initial sales targets.
We knew awareness was going to be key to our success. We had to get the word out (as well as a few videos) on just how safe, fast, and effective SnowPeeler could be. Since launching last October, we pursued an aggressive, web marketing strategy – leveraging our website, Facebook, and YouTube. After the first big snowstorm, the strategy began paying off. We saw very strong demand in our home province of Quebec. By season’s end, we had customers across Canada and in 20 states in the U.S.
SnowPeeler was initially available online – first on the PolarMade website and then on Amazon. However, we quickly found that our customers preferred buying at their local hardware store. In our first season, we built retail relationships with 175 hardware stores. Our partners include such leading brands as Patrick Morin, Home Hardware, Canadian Tire, BMR, and RONA. These incredible partners contributed significantly to our success.
In addition to the success we had with our customers and retail partners, we were humbled when we were recognized by our industry.

AQMAT’s Annual Awards Gala was held on March 3rd. When PolarMade was announced the guests were showered with snow — literally with real snow! This was the first reported “indoor” snowstorm ever to hit Québec!
Unfortunately, PolarMade did not bring home the trophies. The award for Innovation in Marketing went to LePage. While the award for Innovation in Product Value went to BBQ Québec. Our hats are off to these amazing companies and their products!
Although we’re just putting this winter to bed, we are extremely excited for the upcoming season. First, we’ll launch SnowPeeler 2.0 which brings significant design features that will make clearing your roof even easier and quicker. We’ll expand our Retail Partner network in Canada. We’ll also establish our first Retail Partners in the U.S. Over the next few months, we’ll be attending Buyer shows and introducing SnowPeeler to major hardware chains south of the border.
We owe everything to our customers. Without you, SnowPeeler would not have been a success. We’re extremely grateful for your support and look forward to continuing to serve you in the future!
